The 2017 WTA Wuhan Open was held at Optics Valley International Tennis Center from Sept 22-30 in Wuhan, central China’s Hubei province.
The Wuhan Open, together with the China Open and Shanghai Masters, are top tennis competitions in China. The 2017 WTA Wuhan Open is a women's tennis tournament played on hard courts, and is a part of the WTA Premier 5 tournaments of the 2017 WTA Tour.
From 2014 to 2028, the Wuhan Open will be held annually each September.

Peng Shuai (born on Jan 8, 1986) is a Chinese professional female tennis player. She reached a career-high ranking of world No 1 in doubles by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) on Feb 17, 2014. This made her the first Chinese professional tennis player (male or female, in singles or doubles) to reach world No 1. At the 2013 Wimbledon Championships, Peng won her first ladies' doubles title with Hsieh Su-wei of Taiwan. The pair won again at the 2014 French Open.
Wang Qiang (born on Jan 14, 1992) is a Chinese tennis player who has won 13 singles and one doubles title on the International Tennis Federation (ITF) circuit. On July 24, 2017, she reached her best singles ranking of 48. She was crowned as the winner of the women’s singles final at the 13th National Games of China in Tianjin.
Caroline Garcia (born on Oct 16, 1993) is a French professional player, who has won five singles and six doubles titles on the WTA tour, and one singles and four doubles titles on the ITF circuit. On Oct 24, 2016, she peaked at No 2 in the WTA doubles rankings, and on Oct 9, 2017, she reached her best WTA singles ranking of No 9.
