Future City: A concentrated cluster of emerging strategic industries and high-end research and development.[Photo provided to China Daily]  

Future City, with a planned area of 66 square kilometers, is one of China’s four “talent concentration bases for State-owned enterprises”. These SOEs are approved by the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission. It is also the only Future City in central and western China. 

Future City focuses on the development of emerging strategic industries, and new and high-tech service industries, including integrated circuits, optoelectronic information, energy and environmental protection, as well as artificial intelligence. It currently hosts a large number of research and development institutions affiliated with SOEs and Fortune Global 500 enterprises. The National Memory Base, a massive integrated circuit memory manufacturing hub with an investment of $24 billion, is also being launched in Future City.
