The East Lake High-tech Development Zone was recently made one of 20 national key high-tech zones and development zones at the 14th China Bioindustry Convention.
WIIO has successfully incubated a 10-billion-yuan ($1.48 billion) optics, IC, display and intelligent device industrial cluster containing more than 200 high-tech firms in this field.
"The development of the East Lake Science City is meant to stimulate innovation in Wuhan and Hubei province," said Zhang Qingjie, an academician from the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
During the first quarter of this year, the East Lake High-tech Development Zone recorded 53.86 billion yuan ($8.13 billion) in GDP, with a growth rate of 8.1 percent, ranking highly in Wuhan.
In response to the chip shortage in China, Auto Valley is currently working together with Optics Valley of China to develop automotive chips.
