The 2025 World Digital Education Conference convened on May 14 in Wuhan, Hubei province, attracting Nobel Prize and Turing Award laureates to discuss the future of global digital education.

This globally significant flagship event brought together top talents from governments, educational and research institutions, and major international organizations under the theme "Education Development and Transformation: The Era of Intelligent" to discuss the future of global digital education.

Key topics included cutting-edge technologies, policy mechanisms, application promotion, digital ethics, and educational equity. The conference aims to promote the employment of intelligent technology to innovate educational content, reshape educational models, and reconstruct the educational landscape.

"This conference will undoubtedly bring significant changes to the future of education," said Mahmoud Seddik, vice-president of Egypt's Al-Azhar University. He emphasized the importance of advancing digital education in the AI era, particularly for developing countries.

The conference will also release the Global Digital Education Development Index 2025, the top 10 global research hotspots in digital education, and the "Wuhan Initiative on Digital Education Cooperation", showcasing China's contributions to this field.

Hubei has made significant strides in exploring the digital transformation of education. The activation rates of the National Smart Education Platform in regions and schools both rank first nationwide. Fourteen national-level digital education demonstration projects have been implemented in Hubei, over 200 schools have accelerated the construction of smart campus demonstrations, and more than 170 cases of educational AI application scenarios have been promoted.

John Hopcroft, a Turing Award laureate and member of the US National Academy of Sciences, remarked that Hubei's dedication to education is impressive. He noted that improving education quality is crucial for enhancing the future of individuals and families, highlighting the significant impact on China's educational development.
