Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China, or OVC) has unveiled 12 themed spaces called "Guanghe Pods" along the Optics Valley Central Ecological Corridor. The pods are aimed at attracting young entrepreneurs, designers, tech enthusiasts, and content creators to operate businesses and creative projects, part of efforts to create a dynamic space for tech experiences, cultural creativity, and social interaction.

The Optics Valley Central Ecological Corridor stretches 10.8 kilometers and is home to the country's only operational suspended monorail. According to the leader of the Guanghe Pods initiative, the monorail will potentially bring nearly 2 million visitors annually to the pods. This influx is expected to help the pods generate a total annual revenue of 20 million yuan ($2.95 million).

The pods are located along the north-south axis of the corridor, all within a five-minute walk from the monorail line. They vary in size from over 20 square meters to more than 100 sq m, offering diverse themes such as tech innovation, smart retail, casual dining, and traditional crafts.

To attract partners, the initiative offers rent-free space, no revenue-sharing requirements, and minimal operational restrictions. Participants will also receive monthly entrepreneurship training and may qualify for seed funding if their projects perform well.

Six potential partners have already signed up, covering sectors like exhibitions, convenience stores, and pet shops. The initiative plans to add two to three pods annually, further revitalizing OVC's cultural and tourism scene.
