Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China, or OVC) kicked off its RoBoLeague Summer Robot Soccer League and the inaugural OVC Humanoid Robot Soccer Warm-up Match on April 29.

Competing teams from Central China Normal University (CCNU) and Wuhan Shujubian Technology Co showcased a high-stakes AI-powered soccer showdown, setting the stage for the main tournament in May.

This warm-up match adhered to the 3V3 autonomous AI competition rules. There were no remote controls or human interventions, and the robots relied entirely on their AI "brains" to make decisions on the field.

The humanoid robots from CCNU demonstrated precise movement control and smooth ball-handling, thanks to their solid algorithmic foundation. Meanwhile, the robots from Shujubian Technology excelled in multi-robot coordination and real-time decision-making, employing the company's expertise in embodied intelligence data.

"The warm-up match serves as a comprehensive test of the robots' technical capabilities and a concentrated display of collaborative innovation between industry and academia," said an official from the Hubei Humanoid Robot Innovation Center.

The main tournament will bring together top teams from universities and enterprises in OVC to engage in high-level intelligent soccer matches.

The tournament aims to advance the development of embodied intelligence technology, cultivate versatile scientific and innovative talents, and drive OVC's humanoid robot industry ecosystem.
