On Oct 13, the 2025 Second China Optics Valley Cross-Border E-Commerce High-Quality Development Conference took place, marking the launch of the Hubei Cross-Border E-Commerce Industry Alliance.

Nearly 100 companies joined the alliance initially, including over 30 enterprises from Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China, or OVC), aiming to foster resource sharing and collaborative global expansion.

Li Shangsong, secretary-general of the alliance, highlighted the challenges faced by small and medium enterprises in cross-border e-commerce, including areas such as market entry and financing. The alliance will focus on integrating platforms, logistics and supply chains, talent and training, and financial resources, aiming to provide businesses with one-stop services and reduce operational costs and risks.

Following its establishment, the alliance plans to expand to over 300 member companies by the end of the year, covering the entire industry chain and boosting transaction volumes for e-commerce businesses. It will implement the "Hubei Product Going Global" brand incubation plan, concentrating on competitive industrial clusters like optoelectronics and automotive parts, and nurturing two to three industrial clusters across the province.

OVC, a major hub for Hubei and Wuhan's international trade, has seen rapid growth in cross-border e-commerce. It is home to four provincial cross-border e-commerce industrial parks and hundreds of enterprises engaged in the industry, including Amazon, Walmart, and JD.com. Last year, the zone accounted for over 50 percent of the city's total import and export volume, with cross-border e-commerce accounting for 50 percent.
