Coco Gauff triumphs at 2025 Wuhan Open

On Oct 12, the 2025 Wuhan Open concluded with an exhilarating final match where third seed and American rising star Coco Gauff secured the singles title. Gauff defeated Jessica Pegula in straight sets, 6-4 and 7-5, marking her name on the Wuhan Open singles champions list for the first time.

Gauff began the match with powerful returns and baseline play, quickly taking the first three games to establish an early lead. Her dominance on the court allowed her to seal the first set at 6-4.

In the second set, Pegula mounted a strong comeback, racing to a 3-0 lead and controlling the pace of the match. However, Gauff eventually adjusted her strategy and regained momentum, ultimately clinching the Wuhan Open singles championship.

Throughout the event, Gauff showcased flawless performance, winning the title without dropping a single set. This victory marks her third WTA 1000 title, a significant milestone in her career, and adds a remarkable highlight to her Asian season.

Earlier in the day, the women's doubles final saw Storm Hunter and Katerina Siniakova triumph over Anna Danilina and Aleksandra Krunic with a decisive 6-3 and 6-2 victory, claiming the 2025 Wuhan Open women's doubles title.
