The 2025 World Snooker Wuhan Open kicked off on Sunday with opening ceremonies at Optics Valley Gymnasium in Wuhan, Hubei province.

"Over the past three years, we have been delighted to see the World Snooker Wuhan Open seamlessly integrate snooker – a game of intelligence and grace – with Wuhan's pioneering spirit and pursuit of excellence," said Qin Jihong, secretary-general of the Chinese Billiards & Snooker Association.

Jason Ferguson, chairman of the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association, said: "We are living in a golden age of snooker, where we have the fortune to see players who can be counted among the sport's greatest legends. This Wuhan Open has drawn an exceptional array of top players."

Meng Hui, vice-mayor of Wuhan, declared the official opening of the tournament.

After the ceremony, the first match got underway.
