"I never imagined I'd be in Wuhan helping so many people solve problems!" she said, highlighting Wuhan's abundant scientific resources and career opportunities as the nurturing ground of her growth from a sapling to a towering tree.
Recognized as a "Yellow Crane Talent" in 2019, she received a 500,000 yuan ($69,672) research grant to study eukaryotic protein expression systems, collaborating with Chinese research teams to develop a series of next-generation diagnostic reagents.
Hailing from the bustling city of Rawalpindi in northeast Pakistan, Sundas harbored a deep curiosity for biological sciences from a young age. Following her university education, she worked for over three years in Pakistan's governmental department of plant protection, engaging with biologists from various nations.
In 2012, she arrived at HZAU on a Chinese government scholarship, pursuing a PhD in Agricultural Entomology and Pest Control. Over the next 13 years, Sundas remained committed to living in Wuhan.
Sundas hopes to continue contributing to the biotechnology sector in Wuhan, aiming for further research breakthroughs to advance the healthcare industry. She also encourages more international talent to pursue their dreams in the city, emphasizing Wuhan's boundless opportunities and hoping that more individuals will discover its allure.
