The Administrative Committee of Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China, or OVC) and Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) signed a strategic cooperation agreement on July 2 to deepen their collaboration.

The partnership aims to promote the integration of scientific and industrial innovation, advance the coordinated development of education, science, and talent, and jointly build the "World Optics Valley".

According to the agreement, OVC and HUST will utilize their respective strengths to construct a high-level scientific force matrix, establish a high-level innovation source, cultivate high-quality innovative talent, and promote the integrated development of industry, city, and talent.

Established with HUST’s support, OVC has seen fruitful outcomes over the past 37 years in innovation platform construction, nurturing emerging industries, and fostering innovative talents, with over 100,000 HUST graduates contributing to OVC's development.

HUST President You Zheng emphasized the mutual promotion between the university and OVC, highlighting their exemplary symbiotic relationship. The university will continue to employ higher education to nurture top-notch innovative talents for OVC.

Shen Yue, secretary of the Party Working Committee of OVC, expressed that HUST is a valuable resource for the innovative development of OVC. Over the years, both parties have jointly created a favorable ecosystem for innovation and high-quality growth.

He hoped that the university would further concentrate on innovation platforms, technological achievements, and entrepreneurial projects in OVC. The zone is committed to providing full support for the university's development needs and strives to establish itself as a world-class science and technology park.
