Walmart opens global e-commerce office in OVC
Walmart opened its global e-commerce office in Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China, or OVC) on June 24, marking its sixth office in China.
Using the zone's advantages in cross-border talent and industry integration, the office aims to support Hubei and Wuhan in exporting products such as optoelectronics, biopharmaceuticals, and automotive components.

As the world's largest retailer, Walmart operates 10,750 stores and online shops in 19 countries and regions. In 2021, Walmart's global e-commerce department opened up to international sellers, including those from China. In March this year, it announced office expansions in 11 Chinese cities.
Walmart's OVC office will establish a local team to provide services such as account registration, operations, logistics, advertising, and omnichannel expansion for sellers. The office also aims to meet the diverse needs of businesses for overseas expansion and collaborate with cross-border ecosystem partners to conduct online and offline training activities, creating a comprehensive overseas ecosystem.
To help Chinese sellers better serve global consumers, Walmart's global e-commerce department unveiled a new seller incentive plan earlier this year, which offers new sellers joining in 2025 up to a total of $75,000 in platform incentives.
OVC has introduced specific policies to encourage companies to expand their cross-border e-commerce operations. The zone has secured approval for establishing four provincial-level cross-border e-commerce industrial parks, attracting leading cross-border e-commerce platforms such as Walmart, Amazon, VirtualExpo Group, and JD.com.
