Wuhan Future City, located in eastern East Lake High-Tech Development Zone, is one of the four concentrated talent bases for major State-owned enterprises and the only "future science and technology town" approved by the State Council for central and western regions.

Surrounded by mountains and lakes, the town covers a total area of 66 square kilometers and focuses on a series of strategic emerging and high-tech service industries, including optoelectronic information, energy and environmental protection and high-end equipment manufacturing.

The town now has world-class R&D institutions and leading talents from State-owned enterprises, some world Top 500 companies, research institutes and colleges and universities.
Nowadays, Wuhan Future City has become an important base leading high-end research and development and science and the technology industry in the Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone – also known as the Optics Valley of China – according to local officials.
Wuhan Future City remains committed to innovation-driven development, housing three national innovation centers, 10 industrial technology research institutes, and supercomputing and intelligent computing centers. It hosts the R&D institutions of 21 large central State-owned enterprises and 20 Fortune Global 500 companies. The future city has nurtured seven locally listed companies and 17 national "little giant" enterprises.
As a "Central State-owned Enterprise Talent Base", the future city upholds a "talent-first" development philosophy, attracting 24 academicians, 62 national-level talents, 75 provincial-level talents, and over 1,000 global innovation and entrepreneurship teams. The future city is also home to national platforms, such as the New Overseas Chinese Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base and the Hubei Overseas Returnees Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, which provide comprehensive services and space for various talents.
The future city integrates industry and urban development, promoting coordinated growth with convenient transportation options, including rail and bus lines, as well as ecological amenities such as Lanting Park and Yulong River Scenic Park. It also offers comprehensive services, including health stations, sports centers, cultural centers, and educational facilities for all age groups.
