Four OVC technologies selected for national top 10 list
Four technologies developed by enterprises and institutions based in the Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China, or OVC) were selected among "China's Top 10 Optical Industry Technologies of 2024" at the 2025 "China's Top 10 Optical Industry Technologies" award ceremony and industry innovation conference on May 15.
The event was hosted alongside the 20th Optics Valley of China International Optoelectronic Exposition, and the awarded companies and institutions included the National Optoelectronics Innovation Center, Raycus Laser, Everfoton, and Hglaser.

The "China's Top 10 Optical Industry Technologies" selection event is the only evaluation activity in China that spans the entire optical industry chain. Since its inception in 2022, it has become one of the highest honors in China's optical industry.
This year's evaluation committee formed a five-dimensional evaluation system and professional lineup that includes academicians, scientists, industry leaders, investment institutions, and end-users.
Liu Xu, secretary-general of the Chinese Optical Society and professor at Zhejiang University, noted that China accounts for nearly 60 percent of the global optical workforce and approximately 50 percent of global optical research papers, highlighting China's significant role in the industry globally.
The event organizers emphasized that OVC, as the world's largest production base for optical fiber and cable and China's largest R&D and production base for optical and laser devices, provides fertile ground for the nurturing of China's optical industry technologies. Hosting the event in OVC allows leading enterprises in the optical field to gather to foster innovation through technical exchanges.
