OVC sees booming tourism during May Day holiday

During the May Day holiday from May 1 to 5, the Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China, or OVC) was bustling with activity, featuring a fusion of technology and cultural tourism that resulted in a surge in visitors.

The Guanggu Suspended Monorail set a new record with an average daily visitor count of 20,000, making it the top choice among visitors seeking to capture the essence of "Cyber Wuhan". The total estimated visitor count for the holiday period is around 85,000.

The suspended monorail also provided a VR experience program. Visitors wearing special glasses can witness virtual butterflies fluttering and wish trees glowing with vibrant colors, creating a mesmerizing fusion of the physical and virtual realms.

The China Architecture Science and Technology Museum launched a series of interactive technological activities themed "Cyber Labor Day: Encounter with AI Magic" during the holiday period, with an estimated 10,000 visitors.

Inside the museum, the crowd gathered for performances by humanoid robots, AI-powered photo shoots, and a 3D printing figurine experience. Children tried their hands at building models of futuristic cities, while families immersed themselves in technology through entertaining and educational activities.

Jiufeng Forest Zoo welcomed over 50,000 visitors during the holiday period, an 18 percent year-on-year increase. On May 3 alone, the daily visitor count exceeded 10,000, with events like the Cute Baby Meetup, Robot Dog Rally, and Journey of Life Exploration attracting a large number of participants.

Many residents also opted for leisure activities such as watching movies and visiting bookstores during the holiday. Approximately 27,000 people watched movies in OVC during the holiday period, a 3.3-percent increase compared to the previous year.
