As one of the significant projects in the Optics Valley Intelligent Connected Sci-tech Industrial Park, the R&D Base for the Optics Valley Intelligent Connected Industry was launched on Dec 25 in Wuhan New City.

The R&D base is designated to fuse sci-tech research, incubation, pilot-scale tests, testing, smart manufacturing, and business-supporting facilities.

At the launch ceremony that day, the China Vehicle City Integrated Development and Testing Center announced its settlement in the R&D base, becoming the first project to do so.

The center is expected to formulate unified standards and regulations centered on urban transport infrastructure and integrating facilities, data, and applications. It will further mobilize other enterprises on the industrial chain to set up businesses in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC) and shape a full-fledged industrial chain ecosystem spanning intelligent connected vehicle (ICV) research, design, production, testing, and identification.

As the new round of the industrial revolution evolves, automobiles have become a new type of smart terminal instead of a traditional industrial product. There are over 2,000 software algorithm-related enterprises in OVC that possess various kinds of core vehicle chips, including storage chips, computing chips, communication chips, perception chips, and more.

In addition, the valley is building an open test road spanning over 800 kilometers and has successfully introduced a series of policy packages this year.
