On Dec 5, 1988, the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC) was founded.

Today is the 35th anniversary of the valley's founding, and OVC now has cultivated eight 10-billion-yuan ($1.39 billion) manufacturers, eight unicorn enterprises, 63 listed companies, 150 national specialized and sophisticated little giant firms, and more than 5,200 high-tech corporations.

The 35 years of progress made in OVC is directly associated with local entrepreneurs' adventurousness, aspiration to success, and tolerance of failure. For this reason, OVC has named its birthday the Optics Valley Entrepreneurs' Day in 2022 to honor all their efforts.

OVC has been transformed from an abandoned place on the Wuhan map into the world's most extensive optical fiber and cable production base, China's most extensive optical device R&D and manufacturing base, and one of the nation's major small and medium-sized display industrial bases and laser industrial bases. Its optoelectronic sector leads the rest of China.

A city will not prosper without its entrepreneurs' strength. The government has created a monthly special breakfast meeting to talk to local entrepreneurs face-to-face during the relaxing breakfast time, seeking their valuable suggestions.

So far, the meeting has been held seven times, inviting entrepreneurs from the intelligent connected vehicle, chips, internet+, life and health, and other backbone industries of the valley.

The 10 policies for high-tech firm cultivation, 10 policies supporting enterprises to go public, 25 policies to rejuvenate industrial economy, and other such government measures demonstrate the valley's resolution to grow with local corporations.

By setting up computing engines and matching models, the online OVC government service 2.0 version has been used, enabling firms to leverage better-supporting policies and find suitable workshops, office buildings, and raw materials.
