On Nov 4, more than 30 entrepreneurs from the Dynamic China research program, organized by Tsinghua University's PBC School of Finance and the School of Vehicle and Mobility, visited the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC), to discuss the future development of new energy vehicles (NEVs) and intelligent connected transportation.

The Dynamic China program gathers well-known executives from domestic intelligent connected vehicle (ICV) companies from over 10 provinces in China, including Jidu and NIO, covering industries such as new energy materials, core components, intelligent cockpits, autonomous driving, vehicle manufacturing, automotive chips, software development, digital mapping, investment, and finance.

During the visit, the participants toured TCL China Star Optoelectronics Technology Co and the Jiufeng Mountain Laboratory, held roundtable forums, and discussed the latest industrial trends with local enterprises.

"At the beginning of this year, AI came on strong, bringing many groundbreaking thoughts to the industry. We used to think that fully autonomous driving would take another 5-10 years, but now it seems that it will happen within 3-5 years," said Xia Yiping, CEO of Jidu Auto.

The Optics Valley of China is currently accelerating the development of the ICV industrial chain. With over 200 automakers and auto component providers, the valley has formed a relatively complete core supporting industrial chain for intelligent vehicles.

OVC will soon release specific policies to provide strong support for the establishment of headquarters for ICV companies, the development of innovation platforms, key technological innovations, and testing and application demonstrations.
