The eighth member representative assembly of the China Semiconductor Industry Association (CSIA) took place in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC), on Oct 24.

The event was attended by over 350 enterprises in the semiconductor industry and the eighth council for CSIA was elected.

Founded in 1990, CSIA has been handling a large quantity of work concerning member unit services, setting up industrial exchange platforms, advancing international collaborations, and contributing to the healthy development of the semiconductor sector.

The semiconductor industry is one of the valley's most important industries and is currently home to more than 200 semiconductor-related enterprises, including Empyrean Technology Co and Synopsys, Inc. Moving forward, OVC will seize upon development opportunities and strive to expand its optoelectronic information industrial scale to 120 billion yuan ($16.72 billion) and become home to more than 800 semiconductor firms.
