The design plan for the Wuhan Optical Valley Digital Economy Industrial Park won the gold medal at the Berlin Design Awards 2023 in the spatial design category.

Annually, the highly regarded and esteemed BETTER FUTURE global creative platform convenes an awards ceremony whereby distinguished individuals from a plethora of industries, including academic leaders, sci-tech innovators, architects, and other elites, are cordially invited to partake in the international expert panel.

Leading design companies participating in the award selection include Foster+Partners, Heatherwick Studios, BIG, Woods Bagot, and Gensler.

Based in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC), the industrial park is located in the core area of the Wuhan New City, with a total construction area of 627,000 square meters and investment of 5 billion yuan ($695 million).

Matching the national development strategies, the industrial park mainly focuses on AI, big data, internet+, AR/VR, and other vital fields, and is trying to integrate the residential, office, and exhibition areas for talents working there.
