Wuhan New City in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, is set to add a new urban complex – Huashan River Urban Complex, according to a local news conference releasing details of its construction plan.

The urban complex is now being constructed faster and is estimated to open its first phase to the public by the end of 2024.

The project is located in the Huashan Ecological New City – a sustainable place where green space and water comprise over 50 percent of its total area. The urban complex involves an investment of about 20 billion yuan ($2.79 billion) and will have business districts, residential areas, industrial parks, and parks.

The urban complex is designed by Woods Bagot, a global architecture studio having 150 years of good reputation.

"The Huashan River project integrates elements of cities, parks, coastal areas, and tracks, and our designers have turned geological challenges into highlights, building a vertical multi-dimensional landscape that enables people coming to the urban complex from different directions to appreciate diverse sceneries," said a senior member of the design company.

Additionally, the urban complex will feature trails in the air, car circuits, cycling tracks, and underground tunnels, and will get access to Wuhan's Metro Line 19.
