The 2023 ZGC Forum, ongoing from May 25 to 30 in Beijing, showcased the latest sci-tech products and frontier technologies of more than 600 enterprises throughout China.

At the display area for the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC), calla lily-shaped landmark representing the valley captured wide attention. Around it, eight groups of chips became the focal point among visitors.

These devices are quite small, measuring about the size of fingernails. One such device was produced by Wuhan UVLEDTEK Co, a company that specializes in ultraviolet LED chips, packaging, and light source systems, located in OVC. These devices are designed to emit deep-ultraviolet light, a commonly used method for disinfecting air, water, and surfaces.

The life and health industry was also eye-catching at the forum, featuring medical capsule robots, which people swallow to take endoscopies, and portable microimage scanners, which are as big as a phone but can deliver fast diagnosis services.

Wang Hongdang, an investor based in Beijing, mainly focused on the high-end equipment and healthcare sectors. "We are mainly dealing with mergers and investments targeting sci-tech companies. I know that Optics Valley of China boasts many awesome products, so I come here to see if there is any suitable target for investment," said Wang.

OVC is the world's largest optical fiber and cable research and manufacturing base, China's most prominent laser and optical device production base, and has been home to more than 300 IC manufacturers, with a complete industrial-scale exceeding 40 billion yuan ($5.66 billion).
