The finals of the Global Opto-Electronic Industry Outstanding Engineers Competition is scheduled to kick off on March 23 in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC), which is located in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province.

Designed to further stimulate talent innovation and give a full play to OVC's unique optoelectronic information industry, the event will feature the participation of excellent engineers and engineering teams from international universities with profound reputations, such as Stanford University, Nanyang Technological University of Singapore, Peking University and Tsinghua University.

The competition includes a top talents contest and an entrepreneurship contest, which all consist of preliminary tests, roadshows, semi-finals and finals.

The finals, which will begin on March 23, are organized by the Hubei Manufacturing Engineers Association, and will mainly be set up by the Wuhan Optics Valley Talent Group Co, together with several other units.

One first-prize award, two second-prize awards and 10 third-prize awards will be awarded at the end of the two contests, respectively. Many project agreements will also be signed by OVC-based enterprises and industrial parks.

On the same day, the 2023 OVC artificial intelligence (AI) industry ecosystem conference (for intelligent connected vehicle (ICV)) will also begin in the valley, focusing on frontiers such as cloud computing, autonomous driving, and smart cockpits.

Industry insiders and experts will be invited to share their views on these fields, such as Wang Miao, chief scientist of Baidu Apollo, Huang Chi, vice president of Momenta, and Chen Xuewen, chief AI scientist from the GAC R&D Center.

In addition, the 2022 Wuhan AI Industry Development Evaluation Report will also be released during this meeting.
