A team of government officials led by Jean-Yves ROUX, the Consul General of France in Wuhan, visited the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC) on Feb 27.

Zhang Yongqiang, director of OVC's administrative committee, welcomed the team and presided over a meeting in which friendly opinions were exchanged with the French officials.

While praising OVC's rapid development, Jean-Yves ROUX introduced the opportunities and challenges existing in the China-France partnership. He said that many French companies based in the valley speak highly of OVC's business environment, which is a positive sign for future investment and cooperation.

Highlighting the valley's strong development prospects and abundant educational and sci-tech resources, the consul general looked forward to the talent exchange and other forms of collaboration with the valley in optoelectronic information, biomedicine, culture and education.

Zhang Yongqiang said that OVC has become an important innovative industrial hub in Hubei after 35 years of development. He expressed hope that the Consulate General of France in Wuhan will help bring in more investment resources to OVC and set up a regular communication mechanism for French firms willing to establish businesses in Wuhan.
