Metaverse attracts global optical experts

The first SPIE-CLP Conference on Advanced Photonics was held in the metaverse of the Optics Valley of China International Optoelectronic Exposition and Forum (OVC Expo) on Nov 22. The event was livestreamed globally, enabling audiences throughout the world to have an immersive experience while listening to the speeches online.

The meeting was jointly held by the Chinese Laser Press (CLP), Zhejiang Lab and Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE).

Professor Andrew Forbes from University of the Witwatersrand, Professor Liu Xu from Zhejiang University, Professor Demetri Psaltis from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, and Professor Wang Jianyu from Hangzhou Institute for Advanced Study of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences were invited to deliver reports on structured light lasers, direct laser writing three-dimensional nano-lithography, optical machine and photon detection techniques.

The conference had four sub-venues and three workshops, and was participated in by experts in biophotonics, nonlinear optics, nanophotonics and other areas. Via the metaverse, they shared cutting-edge research results and technologies with the world.
