The finals of the 10th National University Students' Opt-Sci-Tech Competition concluded at the Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, on Aug 26.

The event was organized by the Chinese Optical Society, and has been held nine times since 2008.

Liu Xiangdong, deputy director of the National University Students' Opt-Sci-Tech Competition Commission, highlighted HUST's competent optoelectronic disciplines and hailed the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China) as an optoelectronic industrial hub that has collected 23 to 35 percent of talent in this field throughout China.

A total of 338 teams from 154 universities made it to the finals. Candidate projects of the competition integrated internet, cloud computing, big data, AI, and IoT with optoelectronic information technologies, and developed new services and products in education, medicine, transportation, manufacturing, finance, green energy and ecological agriculture.
