The Third Software Defined Vehicles Forum & AUTOSAR China Day 2022 took place on August 3 in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC). The three-day event was organized by Gasgoo Auto and AUTOSAR and was participated in by auto-making and software companies including SAIC Motor, Dongfeng Motor, Geely Auto, and Neusoft Reach.

Experts and industry insiders were invited to discuss the auto industry as well as its future trajectory. Zhou Xiaoying, CEO of Gasgoo Auto, said he believes that auto hardware is evolving in a more integrated, standardized and simplified direction. The automobile software is becoming increasingly important, while scenario-based software service projects are usually hard to acquire. Therefore, promoting such projects has become a priority for the auto industry.

Chen Yixian, chief software architect of Yuanfeng Technology Co, said that as internet and technology firms have joined the auto-making team, the auto industry will be further divided into several relatively independent businesses, such as power supply, information, drive, function, and edge computing.

"The auto sector has experienced its basic construction and electrification periods, it will now step into the era of information and communication technology," said Zhang Xiaoxian, vice general manager of Puhua Basic Software Co.

OVC, the venue for the event, has strong prospects when it comes to developing the intelligent connected vehicle business, and is home to more than 200 enterprises in the industrial chains of software and programming, high-definition maps and positioning, intelligent cockpit, 5G network, general auto spare parts and facilities.

The valley is currently researching ICV application scenarios, with the Wuhan Artificial Intelligence Computing Center put into use, and the Wuhan Supercomputing Center to begin operating in September this year.
