A work meeting centered on the construction pace of the East Lake Science City located in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC), was held on July 21.

Government officials of the valley were briefed on the construction plans for the East Lake Scientific Service Center and decided that the facility will be modeled after a Möbius band – a mathematical symbol that is a two-dimensional strip with only one surface and one edge. It symbolizes the infinite possibilities in innovation. The facility is expected to be a new OVC landmark, connecting the sciences with scientists and an innovation eco-system.

According to the meeting that day, the first phase of the scientific innovation center and the first phase of the Zhuxin industrial park have already been launched, the Wuhan Supercomputing Center has been roofed, and the construction plans for public service supporting projects for commercial areas are currently being formulated.

By Sept 30, the transportation network of the science city's core areas will open to traffic, the Weilai First Road will be lit, and the Wuhan Supercomputing Center will be put into use.
