Two city book rooms in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC) officially opened to the public on April 21.

Xie Chunzhi, vice president of the Hubei Provincial Library, and Yan Jidong, chairman of the library's labor union, were selected as honorary curators of the two book rooms during the unveiling ceremony.

Located in the East Lake High-tech University Science Park and the Beichen Guangguli community, respectively, the two book rooms cover areas of 470 and 224 square meters, and are able to accommodate up to 100 and 55 readers at once, respectively.

They were built jointly by the OVC government and provincial and municipal libraries to boost the 12-minute reading circle within the valley and are divided into seven special areas for recommended books, digital resource activity promotions and other convenient services.
