Wuhan Joy City, a new grand shopping complex located in the Optics Valley Central City of the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC), opened to the public on Jan 15.

Registering a total passenger volume of 150,000 and sales revenue of 10 million yuan ($1.58 million) on its first day of operation, the shopping mall offers a variety of consumption options for people in OVC, which boasts a permanent population of about 2 million.

The complex occupies a construction area of 140,000 square meters and houses a series of brands especially popular among youth – fresh produce supermarkets, cinemas, gyms, karaoke, children's playgrounds, and beverage shops such as Starbucks, Nayuki Tea Pro, and LAVAZZA.

In addition, global garment brands such as Uniqlo and Adidas have also established their flagship stores in the complex.
