Statistics show that 111 new enterprises were registered in East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC) on Jan 4, the first weekday of 2022.

The surge in market entities can be partly explained by the valley's online business registration assistance service system, which is the first of its kind in Hubei province. The system features cloud custom service teams, and offers to mail the "entrepreneur package" to newly-registered companies for free. The package includes documents such as business licenses, seals, tax management equipment, receipts and paper instructions on preferential policies.

The implementation of the system has boosted the registration rate of new businesses in the valley, and over 98 percent of related procedures can now be handled online.

The government affairs service center has also established special service sites to deal with claims and other complex problems during the registration process.

Last year, the valley saw about 29,700 new market players and 19,600 new firms, accounting for nearly 15 percent of Wuhan's total.
