There are three core technologies in the computing industry – central processing units (CPUs), operating systems and databases. Wuhan is leading the nation in the latter two technologies.

Wuhan Yangtze Computing Technologies Co, based in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC), was founded in May of last year, strengthening the city's CPU research and application, and computing industry cultivation.

The Yangtze Kunpeng Eco-Innovation Center in Wuhan Future City has reportedly connected with 358 local software enterprises, and the Kunpeng Industrial Park to be established in OVC has also been put on the agenda.
