Experts, academicians address OVC Expo

The 18th Optics Valley of China International Optoelectronic Exposition and Forum kicked off on Oct 27 in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province.

Domestic and overseas academicians, experts and representatives from renowned enterprises were invited to the expo to deliver keynote speeches about optical communications, lasers, optical innovation and applications and other topics.

Jin Yuzhi, senior vice president of Shenzhen Huawei Technologies Co, praised Wuhan's strong foundation in the optical communications industry and said that the city has deployed globally leading research bases for optical fibers, cables, and devices. He claimed that Huawei will expand its investments in the optical field and help Wuhan become China's F5G demonstration hub.

Academician Li Yuanyuan, Party secretary of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, said the optoelectronic technology was crucial to the transformation and reshaping of the world. He said that the university is willing to offer intellectual support to the Optics Valley Sci-Tech Innovation Corridor.

Tan Jianrong, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered a speech on intelligent manufacturing and measuring, suggesting that using the principles of optics and lasers in measuring activities will largely improve China's manufacturing sectors.
