The Innovation China Industry-University Integration Convention and 2021 China International Carbon Peak and Neutrality Summit Forum was unveiled on Sept 25 at the Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC).

Directed by the China Association for Science and Technology, and cohosted by the China Renewable Energy Society, the China Energy Research Society, the Hubei Association for Science and Technology, the Wuhan science and technology bureau, and the administrative bureau of Optics Valley, the convention included an opening ceremony, a major forum, and two sub-forums on low-carbon energy technologies and green finance.

Liu Jie, director of the administrative committee of OVC, announced the valley's action initiative to achieve China's carbon peak and neutrality goals.

The initiative stated that Optics Valley will be an advocator, practitioner, leader, and contributor to carbon peak and neutrality targets by giving full play to its strengths, establishing technology transfer platforms, promoting the decarbonization of energy structures, reducing the intensity of energy consumption and carbon emissions, launching forward-looking research on carbon neutrality technologies, pioneering the promotion and demonstration of major and core sustainable technologies, and playing an active role in low-carbon lifestyle.
