News from the administrative committee of the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC) located in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, said that the future construction of the Optics Valley Chinese Sci-tech City will revolve around innovative platforms, special blocks, the green economy, infrastructure, and welfare supporting facilities. Sound construction plans will lay a solid foundation for the ensuing investment and development of the sci-tech city.

The city will also accelerate steps to build the national modern agricultural scientific innovation center and the Optics Valley Laboratory and cultivate a new economic engine by means of national platforms. The permanent address of the Conference on Overseas Chinese Pioneering and Development in China will become an important and notable location. In addition, the new practical talent cultivation base and high-end education base will also be developed into new growth points for the local economy.

In addition, the Optics Valley Ecological Corridor program will make further progress in the sci-tech city, and will focus on promoting the Longquan Mountain Eco-Tourism project that mainly consists of the establishment of a national heritage park.

The Optics Valley Chinese Sci-tech City is one of eight industrial parks in the OVC, covering a total area of 217.66 square kilometers and occupying 42 percent of the entire development zone. It has 83.61 sq km of natural area.

With Longquan Mountain to the north and Liangzi Lake to the south and east, the city is located just three kilometers from the Shanghai-Chengdu Highway, and it takes just 15 minutes to reach the Wuhan Railway Station.
