Five Optics Valley firms win China's top patent award

China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) has recently announced the winners of the 22nd China Patent Award, the country's top award for patents.

A total of 24 patents from Wuhan, the capital city of Central China's Hubei province, won the award, covering areas such as optical fibers, animal and plant growth, rail vehicles, the power grid, landfills, engineering construction and automobile manufacturing.

Among them, five patents come from companies based in Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone, also known as Optics Valley of China.

The China Patent Award was launched in 1989, enjoying wide international influence. Jointly organized by the CNIPA and the World Intellectual Property Organization, it is selected annually.

Among Optics Valley winners, the thermal imaging human body temperature measurement camera developed by Guide Sensmart won the silver award for its design patent – one of the 15 nationwide.

The patent for the high-pixel infrared focal plane detector and preparation method from Wuhan Global Sensor Technology won the excellent patent award.
