OVC to build national platform for new-generation AI tech

A national new-generation general artificial intelligence (AI) technology platform will be built at East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China) in Wuhan, the capital city of Central China's Hubei province, following a cooperation agreement on AI technology development signed on May 20.

The agreement was signed by the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Huawei Technologies and the management committee of Optics Valley, who will jointly build the AI open platform and an industrial demonstration base in Wuhan.

Liu Chenglin, deputy director of the Institute of Automation of the CAS, stated that the institute's AI research capabilities and technological upgrades lead the country.

Xu Yingtong, president of the Huawei Ascend's computing business, said that the AI industry boasts huge development potential and that Huawei will give full play to its advantages in basic software and hardware platforms. The tech giant will also cooperate with partners to promote industrial upgrading.

Liu Jie, director of the management committee of Optics Valley, said that the project is key to supporting the construction of East Lake Science City and will help build a national leading AI innovative development core cluster. She thanked partners for their support and promised to provide great business services.
