The 2021 Optics Valley of China Half Marathon will be held on June 6 in East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China) in Wuhan, the capital of Central China's Hubei province, according to a news conference held on May 11.

Interested participants can sign up for the half-marathon at the marathon's official website or through the Maramara App from 10 am May 12 to 10 am May 15.

As part of the zone's celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the event will showcase economic recovery in Wuhan after the pandemic and the zone's high-quality development.

It will include a half-marathon (21.0975 kilometers), a health run (about 4 km) and a relay race. A total of 4,970 people are expected to participate in the races – including 1,000 for the half-marathon and 1,000 for the health run. The remainder will participate in the relay race, which will include 33 teams of 90 people each.

The competitions will start at Huazhong University of Science and Technology. The health run will end at Wuhan East Railway Station, while the half-marathon and the relay race will end at Wuhan Future City.

Registration costs 150 yuan ($23.31) for half-marathon runners and 80 yuan for health runners. The results will be announced in late May.
