Internet giant Tencent Group has established a wholly-owned subsidiary at East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China) in Wuhan, the capital of Central China's Hubei province.

The wholly-owned subsidiary is a digital industry headquarters project at the Zhongjian science and technology industrial park, which is located in Optics Valley Central City.

It is expected that more than 300 employees will start work at the headquarters this June, and the number of employees within five years is expected to reach 1,500.

The headquarters intends to become a leading digital powerhouse in China, and will focus on the R&D of basic and standardized products for the cloud and intelligent sectors.

The product line will cover basic products and capabilities such as cloud computing, security and artificial intelligence. It will also extend to digital solutions for multiple industries such as retail, healthcare, government, education, travel and security, and include market-leading products ranging from databases and bus code to digital government platforms and smart campuses, among others.
