Six companies based at Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone, also known as Optics Valley of China, were included on the list of Hubei province's first batch of technological innovation demonstration enterprises, according to local media reports.

The list was released by the Department of Economy and Information Technology of Hubei Province on Feb 1. A total of 40 companies made the list, 13 of which are from Wuhan, the provincial capital of Central China's Hubei province.

The six companies from Optics Valley of China are Wuhan FiberHome Technologies Services Co Ltd, Wuhan Huazhong Numerical Control Co Ltd, China City Environment Protection Engineering Limited Company, Wuhan FiberHome Information Integration Technology Co Ltd, Hubei Guochuang Hi-tech Material Co Ltd, and Wuhan Hongxin Technical Services Co Ltd.

It is the first time that Hubei province has selected technological innovation demonstration enterprises. The 40 companies on the list are involved in biomedicine, electronic information, new materials and high-end equipment.

Companies from Wuhan, Yichang and Xiangyang account for more than half of those on the list.
