Hubei Provincial People's Government will support the East Lake National Innovation Demonstration Zone (Optics Valley of China) to plan and construct East Lake Science City. The new science city is one critical part of Wuhan East Lake National Comprehensive Science Center.

The provincial government announced its support in a recently released document covering measures to promote the construction of high-tech industrial development zones in Hubei.

The province will promote the East Lake National Innovation Demonstration Zone to deepen system and mechanism reform and innovation, strengthen its joint development with the China (Hubei) Pilot Free Trade Zone and carry out new and advanced policy trials.

The goal is to promote innovation-driven development with Hubei characteristics, accelerate the Wuhan East Lake Comprehensive National Science Center's construction and support Wuhan to create a science and technology innovation center with national influence.

According to the formulated regional development strategic layout, the province will give full play to Optics Valley's leading role and support the zone to develop a world-class optoelectronic information industry.

Hubei province will promote the layout of the science and technology industry in the Wuhan metropolitan area and Optics Valley sci-tech innovation corridor. It will also develop and expand strategic emerging sectors with leading roles such as brain science, quantum information, genetic engineering, artificial intelligence and blockchain.
