An opening ceremony was held on Dec 2 marking the start of operations for Wuhan Construction Investment Co Ltd in East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China) in Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei province.

The zone's new corporate resident is a unit of Sinohydro Bureau 8 Co Ltd -- one of Beijing-based infrastructure construction group Power Construction Corporation of China's (POWERCHINA) main operational arms.

POWERCHINA is one of the Fortune Global 500 companies, ranked 157 in 2020.

This is the first time Sinohydro Bureau 8 has set up a wholly-owned subsidiary in Hubei province. The newly established company will be based in Optics Valley and integrate its resources of customers, capital, human resources and technology in Hubei. The aim is to create a strong construction enterprise composed of top professionals.

The predecessor company of Sinohydro Bureau 8 is the first professional hydraulics and hydropower mechanization construction team established in China, headquartered in Hunan province.

And the Sinohydro Bureau 8 is the only enterprise with three national special-class qualifications in the POWERCHINA group. In recent years, it undertook more than 10 projects in Wuhan and won the municipal engineering gold award in the province for three consecutive years.
