Two companies resident in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone -- in Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei province -- recently made into the first list compiled by financial services group KPMG China of the country's top 50 young "chiptech" enterprises.

The companies are Silicon Integrated Co Ltd and Wuhan Mindsemi Co Ltd.

They were also the only two enterprises in the province selected for the list and their headquarters are in the zone, also known as Optics Valley.

Founded in 2016, Silicon Integrated Co Ltd is a high-tech startup company focusing on high-performance mixed-signal integrated circuit designs. It has R&D centers in Europe, Shenzhen and Shanghai.

Founded in December 2017, Mindsemi Co Ltd is a high-tech enterprise focusing on the production of optical communication lasers and detector chips, integrating R&D, manufacturing and sales. It is the first independent full-series optical chip supplier in the field of optical communications in China.

KPMG China established the top 50 young chiptech enterprise list. It recognizes high-growth enterprises in the field of chips in China that are committed to promoting communications terminals and networks, sensing systems, digital processing and logic applications, as well as the physical application of the internet of things.

From the perspective of strengthening support for start-up enterprises, the first selection did not consider listed companies.

The core evaluation criteria of the list included six areas: innovations in technology and business models, valuations and capital market recognition, semiconductor industry association recognition, market recognition, financial status and team ability.
