National honors conferred on Optics Valley virus fighters

Three novel coronavirus fighters from Optics Valley of China -- in Wuhan, capital city of Central China's Hubei province -- were recognized for their great efforts in combating the unprecedented public health crisis and conferred with national honors in Bejing.

They were awarded national honors at a ceremony to commend role models in China's fight against COVID-19, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Sept 8, according to local media reports.

Except for commending role models in China's fight against COVID-19 with recipient of the Medal of the Republic Zhong Nanshan and recipients of the national honorary title "People's Hero", Zhang Boli, Zhang Dingyu and Chen Wei.

Commended at the event were national advanced role models, advanced collectives, national excellent Party members and national advanced grassroots Party organizations.

Of these, 200 people were from Hubei province.

The three from Optics Valley were Tian Zhijian, director of the Wuhan BGI Fire Eye Lab; Wu Xiaodong, director of the Optics Valley public health service center and Tian Ming, Party secretary and director of the neighborhood committee of Fozuling B sub-district.

All of them were conferred with the title of "national advanced role model". And Tian Zhijian was also awarded the title of "national excellent Party member".
