More schools to be built in Optics Valley

More new schools and kindergartens have been built and are due to be built in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone -- also known as Optics Valley of China, which is located in Wuhan, capital city of Central China's Hubei province -- according to local media reports on Aug 3.

Zone officials welcomed the positive development, saying that the schools would provide more opportunities for children to get education.

According to local authorities, two newly built primary schools, one new junior high school and one new kindergarten were ready to enroll students on Aug 3. At the same time, the zone has completed the second phase construction of the Optics Valley No 6 Primary School.

Officials said these schools will have a total of 153 classrooms able to accommodate 6,765 students. Of these, 81 classrooms are in primary schools that can accommodate 3,645 students, 48 classrooms are in junior middle schools can hold 2,400 students and 24 classrooms are in kindergartens can accommodate 720 toddlers.

According to the local media, all the new schools passed their reviews by the education authorities in mid-July and were ready to open their doors. Meanwhile, many other schools have been rebuilt and expanded, local officials said.

They added that in the current year, the construction of 12 new schools will start in the zone.
