Some 10 companies resident in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone -- also known as Optics Valley of China and located in Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei province -- recently won national recognition for their patents.

According to a statement issued by the National Intellectual Property Administration, the companies made the list of the 21th China Patent Awards and three of them won silver medals.

Zone officials said that opto-electronics supplier Accelink and FiberHome -- which is mainly engaged in telecommunications -- won China Patent Silver Awards. Guide Infrared won a China Design Silver Award.

At the same time, six enterprises won China Patent Excellence Awards and a company called Aisimba won the China Design Excellence Award.

Zone officials added that the silver award-winners were companies with products of a high technical content.

Officials said that in recent years -- with residents operating in the fields of 5G communications, energy conservation, environmental protection and artificial intelligence -- Optics Valley companies have made continuous efforts in their high-tech innovation and upgrading.

There are also many companies among award-winning companies that are preparing for stock exchange listings and market prospects are very promising, they added.

The China Patent Award is awarded jointly by the National Intellectual Property Administration and the World Intellectual Property Organization.

Since the award was established in 1989, Optics Valley enterprises have been awarded three gold, five silver and more than 110 excellence prizes for their patents.
