Optics Valley firm wins top international prizes

A high-tech product developed by a company resident in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone -- also known as Optics Valley of China, located in Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei province -- recently triumphed in a global competition, according to officials.

They said that the VeinSight-500 vein finder from BLZ Tech, stood out from more than 6,500 entries from 60 countries and regions.

It went on to win the Product Design and Innovative Product categories of the Red Dot Award -- one of the top three design awards in the world, according to local media reports on July 24.

BLZ Tech is one of the businesses that was incubated at the Optoelectronic Technology Center in Wuhan Overseas Students Park in Optics Valley.

According to zone officials, BLZ settled in the zone in 2015.

It is a technology innovation company focusing on intelligent robot and machine vision.

Officials said its main business is the research and development, production and sales of Class I and II medical devices. Its product, the VeinSight vascular imaging instrument, began to be officially marketed in 2015.

VeinSight products have won many domestic and foreign awards -- such as the China Red Star Design Award, the French INNO Design Award, Bauhaus Award, Upstyle Award, Contemporary Good Design Award and others.

Zone officials said the company's R&D team originates from a State key laboratory at Huazhong University of Science and Technology.

They added that the company has many staff members with doctorates and master's degrees and has established long-term cooperative relations with leading universities, scientific research institutes and high-tech enterprises in China.
