A resident high-tech company based at the East Lake High-tech Development Zone -- also known as Optics Valley of China and located in Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei province -- has secured important funding, according to zone officials.

Wuhan GreeNet Information Service Co Ltd received round B financing of 150 million yuan ($21.42 million) from State Development and Investment Corp Venture Capital Co Ltd, or the SDICVC -- a central State-owned enterprise.

The funding from the SOE is to support GreeNet's research and development and innovation in the field of Deep Packet Detection, which is expected to help the national information security industry in the future, according to local media reports on July 12.

Founded in 2003, GreeNet has maintained a leading position in the Deep Packet Detection, or DPI, for a long time.

DPI is a traffic detection and control technology based on application layers. A DPI device is often compared to a "camera on the road of network information".

By analyzing the protocol and large data of network application, especially 5G network, network management and maintenance can be intelligently realized, and network information security can be assisted.

According to local officials, the success of the financing is a landmark achievement for tech companies in the zone and in the province, with the Science and Technology Department of Hubei Province, National Science and Technology Venture Capital Development Center and SDICVC holding online cloud salon series activities to support the resumption of work and production of Hubei science and technology enterprises.
