More than 90 percent of enterprises above a designated scale -- with annual output of 20 million yuan ($2.81 million) or more --  in East Lake High-tech Development Zone in Wuhan, capital city of Central China's Hubei province, have resumed work and production, according to zone officials.

And about 200 internet enterprises have returned to work, zone officials added.

The zone is also known as Optics Valley of China. Optoelectronics information and the bioindustry are two leading sectors of the zone. Officials said that the key enterprises of the two industries there and 45 support enterprises in the industrial supply chain have resumed output.

Meanwhile, the zone is encouraging employees of some micro, small and medium-sized enterprises to return to their posts in staggered shifts -- or to work online, if possible -- so as to solve the dangers posed by the novel coronavirus epidemic of large gatherings of workers.

According to the statistics of Optics Valley's power supply department, March 26 was the day when the power consumption of the zone had its highest level, some 20.8 percent higher than the lowest load of the month.

Zone officials said that currently, power consumption load is still rising, which means the number of enterprises returning to work is increasing.

Officials added that at present, the zone is making every effort to promote the resumption of work and production.

By the end of March, they say that enterprises above a designated scale will be able to return to work and have 100 percent production levels.
