A total of 92 residential communities in East Lake High-tech Development Zone in Wuhan city had no newly confirmed cases in the past two weeks as of March 11, according to local officials.

The zone, also known as Optics Valley of China, is located in Wuhan, capital of China's Central Hubei province.

As of March 11, 41 residential communities were newly added to the list of the zone's epidemic-free communities and the number of the epidemic-free communities there increased to 92, Optics Valley officials said.

Zone officials said that to be declared epidemic-free, two requirements must be met.

First, there must be no confirmed cases of novel coronavirus pneumonia for more than 14 days from the date of application. Then there have to be no confirmed cases of the virus for at least 14 consecutive days -- and suspected cases, fever cases and close contacts must also have been released from quarantine.

Second, all of the prescribed prevention and control methods should be in place. Efforts should have been made in publicity and guidance, closed-off management, investigations and screening, disinfections, supply guarantees and orderly arrangements.

The lists of epidemic-free communities and villages are updated every three days.
